ALPENA TOWNSHIP — A truck too tall to ease under a cable caused a brief slowdown on U.S.-23 North just south of Hinks Elementary School on Wednesday.
Police directed traffic around a low-hanging communications cable after the truck caught a cable on a side road. The truck pulled the cable until an adjacent pole snapped, causing the line to dangle across the highway.
Alpena Power Company workers helped raise the dangling cable so that tall trucks could safely pass under it, but power in the area was not impacted, according to police.
