Road shut for second time between A46 near Cheltenham and the A436, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes as emergency services work to make road safe

The A417 in Gloucestershire has been closed again in both directions as emergency services look to replace a fallen power cable that landed on the carriageway.

The road was reopened after the original fall, but has now been closed again between the A46 near Cheltenham and the A436 (Air Balloon Roundabout) as Western Power looks to replace the cable and make the area safe. Emergency services including Gloucestershire Police are in attendance.

Motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes if possible, with diversions in place. National Highways has recommended that drivers allow additional time to complete their journey.
