The series 9721 unmanaged switches have ATEX and IEC Ex certifications. The networking product is suitable for process plants with fast Ethernet infrastructure in hazardous areas. The series 9721 switches have four FX ports for optical fiber cables with the “op is” (inherently safe optical radiation) type of protection, according to IEC EN 60079-28:2015, which is akin to electrical type “i” intrinsic safety. Connected lines can be plugged in and out even in explosive atmospheres in zone 1 and 2 (hot plugging). With a shutdown no longer required, changes or extensions to an installation become more cost effective. Optical fiber cables can be used for fast data communication, especially in plants with distributed systems where considerable distances must be bridged or where strong interference may be an issue. The switches themselves can be operated in zone 2, while their 100 Mbit/s optical ports connect field devices, such as the Ethernet-enabled IS1+ remote I/O system in zone 1. R Stahl www.r-stahl.com

The essential valve system series is a modular valve system. ES05 orders are supplied as complete assembly kits. All components are unique, and all fittings are of the same type and tightened with the same torque. The portfolio also includes the essential test box, which can be used to test the correct function and leak-tightness of valves before installing the valve system.
The valves come in a housing made of high-performance polymers. Users connect the end and base plates and can extend the system in pairs up to 12 single or double solenoid valves. The valves are controlled via single wiring with a type CI plug according to ISO 15217, a D-Sub connection with 25 pins, with AES valve electronics, or with an integrated IO-Link interface. AES supports all common fieldbus and Ethernet protocols. If necessary, the pilot coils can also be turned at a later stage for mixed connection configurations. With a switching time of less than 35 milliseconds for all valve functions, dynamic action is guaranteed for short cycles. With single wiring, the ES05 complies with protection class IP65, so the valve system can also be installed in decentral locations, even in environments exposed to splash water. All other connection types comply with protection class IP50. Aventics www.aventics.us
The ST100 air/gas thermal flowmeter has a fast-response direct mass flow sensor for the close ratio control of natural gas and air feeds to support turbine safety and improve efficiency. Combined cycle power plants operate with both natural gas and steam turbines to produce up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel as traditional fossil-fuel power plants. The steam turbine is driven by the waste exhaust gases from the natural gas turbine. The ST100 thermal flowmeter allows the operator to achieve a direct ratio of control between the natural gas, the air, and waste gas fuels without any corrections for pressure, temperature, or density.
The thermal flowmeters measure the mass flow rates of both natural gas and air in line sizes from 1-inch gas pipes to air inlet ducts that are 2000 by 2000 mm. The ST100 can be applied not only on cold fresh air intakes, but also at preheated or combustion air feeds to the gas turbines. Their SIL rating is based on certified failure mode effects and diagnostic analysis reports.
The device's standard turndown is 100:1, with an optional 1000:1 turndown available. The in-line style configuration is for line sizes from 0.75 to 2 inches, and it measures flow rates from 0.01 to 3000 kg/hr.
