What will happen this week?
According to a synopsis from CBS, “After a game-changing twist, a secret alliance makes plans to take control of the game.” We know thanks to last week’s sneak peek that tempers in the house are going to flare up.
The Algorithm is the best character on this season, let’s face it. This week, Tyson was forced to pair with his new mortal enemy, Sarah, but as juicy of a pairing as that was, it didn’t turn out to be the central focus of the episode.
Instead, it was all about Leo, who was forced this week to partner with Alyssa, who was not at all happy about it. That seems to mostly stem from the fact that Leo talks about cats a lot, and doesn’t do well in the water. But anyone keeping score has also seen Leo crush an by coming up with a novel numbers system, and face his fear of water where others wouldn’t even try (eyes on Enzo).
Before getting to the challenge of the week, the producers gave us a glimpse of Leo chatting with his girlfriend, who was laying into him about the state of their business. A distressed Leo decided he had to leave the show, but Alyssa, despite not wanting Leo as a partner, helped talk him into sticking around.
This week’s challenge was called Wreck-Reational Driving but we all know that it was really just Balloon Battle from Mario Kart. One contestant was blindfolded behind the wheel of a demolition derby-style junker, while the passenger seat contestant was tasked with giving them driving directions in an effort to crash into other cars and pop the massive balloons hanging off the side.
Leo and Alyssa got a few good licks in, but unfortunately their car wrecked shortly thereafter, meaning they were destined for elimination. The field continued to narrow until at last Cayla and (ughhhhh) Domenick were the only team left standing.
Domenick with power is pretty unpleasant, and you can bet that someone like Angela is not going to forget the disrespect, next time she has power in her hands. Cayla, for her part, seemed to just want to cause chaos. In the end, Domenick and Cayla were left deciding between the show’s three heaviest hitters: Angela, Kyland and Tyson.
Unfortunately for Kyra, she had to go with Kyland into elimination, where the teams were tasked with solving trivia questions by lifting weighted balls with possible answers on them to the top of a tall wall. Leo and Kyland both literally carried their partners, while the women were tasked with lifting the balls and placing them on top of the wall. Both teams failed their first check, but on the second pass, Leo and Alyssa fixed their guess for the number of Adele’s studio albums to win it all.
And now everyone will realize that Leo is a force of nature, right?
Just before the end, TJ teased a major twist for this week’s episode.
